TopperBatch (“the app”) is a classroom platform that lets instructors teach listening, speaking, reading and vocabulary, and lets students practise and get feedback. This policy explains what we collect and why.
Information we collect
When you use the app we store:
- Your name and email address (to create and secure your account).
- An optional registration/roll number if your class uses one.
- Your coursework: practice attempts, typed answers, and audio recordings you choose to submit (speaking and vocabulary tasks).
- Grades, feedback, attendance, diary entries and messages exchanged with your instructor.
- If you enable notifications, a push subscription token for your device.
How we use it
Your data is used only to run the classroom: to show your work to your own instructor, compute grades and progress, deliver notifications you opted into, and (optionally) to generate AI transcripts and grading suggestions from your submitted audio and text. AI processing uses Google’s Gemini API and is triggered by your instructor; it is advisory and reviewed by a human.
Who can see your data
Only you and your own instructor (and the platform administrator) can see your coursework. Instructors are isolated from one another — one instructor cannot see another instructor’s students or work. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Data storage & security
Data is stored on our hosting provider’s servers. Passwords are hashed (bcrypt) and never stored in plain text. Connections use HTTPS. File uploads (audio, images, PDFs) are access-controlled so only the owner and their instructor can retrieve them.
Notifications
Push notifications are optional. You turn them on with the bell button and can turn them off any time from your device or the app. Turning them off removes your device’s subscription token.
Your choices & deletion
You can ask your instructor to edit or remove your account and its data, which permanently deletes your submissions, messages, grades and recordings. To request deletion or ask any privacy question, contact us at the email below.
Children
The app is intended for use within a class, under the direction of an instructor or institution. If a minor uses the app, it should be with the involvement of their school or guardian.
